Descripción
Las tres playas al este de Las Galeras no tienen acceso por carretera. A Frontón, Madama y el extremo más lejano de Rincón se llega a pie, por un sendero costero de más de una hora y media, o como lo hace Andrés: en un viaje de veinte minutos en bote desde el pequeño puerto de Las Galeras. El día comienza a las 9:30 am en Playita Las Galeras. Veinte minutos después, el bote bordea el cabo hacia Playa Frontón, donde la pared caliza cae directo al agua y los escaladores llegan para recorrer la única ruta de vía ferrata de República Dominicana. Aquí tienes tres horas: para nadar, hacer snorkel y descansar a la sombra al fondo de la playa. Luego sigue Playa Madama, una cala angosta cerrada por la selva, con una cueva taína en un extremo y aguas color vidrio verde. Después el bote continúa hacia Playa Rincón —cuatro kilómetros de arena blanca, considerada regularmente entre las mejores del Caribe— donde se sirve el almuerzo en un restaurante frente a la playa con vista a la bahía. El regreso a Las Galeras es a las 4:00 pm. Andrés Pérez ha guiado esta costa durante quince años. Está certificado por el Ministerio de Turismo y es miembro de AGTUGE, la asociación local de guías. Existe una versión más corta de dos playas, de 9:30 am a 3:30 pm, que recorre Frontón (tres horas) y Madama (una hora, incluyendo la cueva taína), con un almuerzo típico servido en la playa en lugar del restaurante. The crossing to Playa Frontón takes about 20 minutes in a small open boat, so the trip is not suitable for anyone who cannot climb aboard from the beach or who is uneasy on the sea. Swimming ability is recommended. None of the three beaches has toilets, shade structures or shops. Departures depend on sea conditions and may be moved or cancelled on rough days.

He even helped us to arrange transport to and from Samana at a good price after we realised going by bus would not work. Andrés knows all about the beaches, advised us on where was best to swim and where was not safe, told us a lot about the plants and trees. He even cracked open an almond to show us - it was tasty! The lunch was good and we had time to go to where the river meets the sea which was beautiful and refreshing to cool off before heading back. Highly recommend!
