Description
Captain Jonathan runs DDD's fishing trips out of the main dock in Samana, and you pick the boat and the hours. Samana Bay holds dorado (mahi-mahi), barracuda and wahoo, and further out there are tuna and marlin. Every trip comes with a certified captain and skipper, fishing gear with up to six rods, a cooler with ice, water and soft drinks, and fuel.
There are four boats to choose from. The small open boat, a 23-foot yola, is the cheapest way to fish inside the bay: US$150 flat for one to four people, and the same boat also runs across to Cayo Levantado. The 23-foot speed boat is US$345 for a full day of eight hours, from 8am to 4pm, and takes six people. The 30-foot luxury yacht is US$1,195 for a half day of four hours, 9am to 1pm, or US$1,450 for the full eight hours, and also takes six. The 40-foot catamaran is US$795 for the half day or US$1,495 for the full day, with room for twelve.
Lunch is not included, but you can eat on Cayo Levantado for around US$10 to US$15 a head, or have them cook your own catch there. Bring your own drinks if you want something beyond what is in the cooler. Tell DDD by WhatsApp which boat and how many hours you want, and they confirm the price.

Meeting Point
You meet the host at a set spot
Avenida La Marina #9, main dock of Samana, Samana 32000, Dominican Republic
DDD Samana Boat Tours works out of the main dock in the town of Samana, on Avenida La Marina, and covers the whole bay from there. Between 15 January and 31 March they run whale watching on a 40-foot motor catamaran, going out to the humpback whales that come into Samana Bay every year to mate and raise their calves. The rest of the year the same boats head for Los Haitises National Park, with its limestone islets, mangrove channels and Taino caves, and for Cayo Levantado, the small island in the bay that everyone calls Bacardi, where the day is built around lunch, swimming and the beach. They also charter for sport fishing with Captain Jonathan, after dorado, barracuda and wahoo inside the bay and tuna and marlin further out. The fleet runs from a small open boat for four people up to a 40-foot catamaran for twelve, by the half day or the full day. Lisette Jimenez handles the bookings.
