Description
LT'Kite was the first dedicated kite school in Las Terrenas and has been running since 2007. This is the discovery lesson in its group form: two students share one kite and work through the session together, which is what keeps the price where it is. It runs two hours with an IKO-certified instructor and assumes no previous experience. Lessons are held at the Portillo lagoon, about four kilometres from the centre of town. The lagoon is semi-enclosed and shallow with steady wind, which is why beginners are taught there rather than out on the open beach. All the equipment is provided: life jacket, helmet, harness, radio, kite and board. Instruction is in English, Spanish or French, and the school teaches children, teenagers and adults. Lessons run year-round, with the most reliable wind from December through September. If the weather makes it unsafe to go out, the lesson is refunded or moved to another day.
