Description
Between Las Galeras and Playa Rincón there are seven beaches with no road, no bar and, most days, nobody on them. The only way to see them is to walk, and the only way back is by boat. The day starts at 9:30 am at Playita Las Galeras. The trail begins at the Cueva de Duarte, a cave with a natural chimney open to the sky, and a climb behind it to a lookout over the whole bay of Playa Rincón. From there it is three kilometres on foot: Caletón, Escondida, Colorado 1 and 2, Ñiñingo, Del Amor, Bremán. Twenty-five minutes at the first, twenty at the second, and an hour and a half at Colorado 1, where Andrés serves lunch on the sand. The stretch before the third beach is rock, so closed shoes matter here more than on any of his other walks. The last beach is a fifteen-minute walk from Playa Rincón, where a boat picks the group up and brings it back to Las Galeras by 4:00 pm. There is a shorter version: three beaches instead of seven, one kilometre instead of three, back by 3:00 pm. Same cave, same lunch. Playita Las Galeras, the small harbour beach in Las Galeras, Samaná, at 9:30 am. The walk ends at Playa Rincón, where a boat brings the group back to Las Galeras by 4:00 pm.
Accessibility & Requirements
Three kilometres on foot over mixed ground: sand, forest trail, and a rocky stretch before the third beach where hands are sometimes needed. Closed shoes are essential; this is not a walk for sandals. A good level of fitness is needed for the full seven-beach route, while the three-beach version is much easier and suits most people. None of the beaches has toilets, shade structures or shops. The return leg is by boat and depends on sea conditions.

Isabel D'Ma year agoMy friend and I booked the 7 beaches walking tour ans had a great day with Andrés - he is from the area and knows everyone! He even helped us to arrange transport to and from Samana at a good price after we realised going by bus would not work. Andrés knows all about the beaches, advised us on where was best to swim and where was not safe, told us a lot about the plants and trees. He even cracked open an almond to show us - it was tasty! The lunch was good and we had time to go to where the river meets the sea which was beautiful and refreshing to cool off before heading back. Highly recommend! The beach itself is stunning—secluded, pristine, and surrounded by lush nature that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a hidden paradise. Andre is an excellent guide. He is knowledgeable, respectful and incredibly friendly and knows Las Galeras inside out. We felt safe as learned so much about the natural wonders of the area.
