Rent a car in Las Terrenas from Jessie Rent Cars, a family-run company renting vehicles across the Samaná peninsula since 1998 and trusted by around 2,000 customers a year. Three models are available, all automatic, air-conditioned, running on premium gasoline and seating five. The Chevrolet Sonic LT city car is US$50 per day, the Renault Duster US$65 and the Chevrolet Captiva US$80. Daily rates fall the longer you keep the car: over four weeks a Sonic is US$30 a day, a Duster US$45 and a Captiva US$60, and rentals longer than a month are priced on request. Child car seats are available and every car is regularly inspected and maintained. A refundable security deposit is required — US$300 for the Sonic and the Duster, US$500 for the Captiva — in cash or as a hold on a VISA or Mastercard, released as soon as the car comes back undamaged. Payment in cash or by card, in US dollars, euros or Dominican pesos. To rent you must be at least 18 and show a valid driver's license plus a second ID (passport or national ID card). The office is on Calle El Carmen, in front of Hotel Puerto Plaza in Pueblo de los Pescadores, open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm and closed on Sundays and public holidays, with WhatsApp bookings answered 24/7. The team speaks Spanish, English and French, and can arrange delivery and tailor-made rates for long stays or several vehicles.
