Description

A morning walk up to the El Limón waterfall, leaving at 9:30, with lunch afterwards. On foot, not on horseback: Rancho Playa does not take riders up to the waterfall. $75 per person. The group runs from three to twenty people, so this is the one to ask about if you are travelling with a larger party. Rancho Playa is a riding stable near El Limón, about 10 km from Las Terrenas, working with horses since 2015. The waterfall is the outing they do on foot.

Riding stable near El Limón, working with horses since 2015. Rancho Playa rides to the beaches — Estillero and El Limón — and does the El Limón waterfall on foot rather than on horseback. Outings run from a morning on the beach to a full day that walks up to the waterfall, stops for lunch, and spends the afternoon in the saddle along the coast, with a sunset ride in the late afternoon. There is a sand arena at the ranch for lessons and for riders starting out.

Nicole takes such good care of her horses. They are clearly so happy and well fed, you can really feel the love the moment you step into her ranch. When Nicole greeted us, she gave us a tour. We saw a horse being walked by one of her trainees and she explained that that horse was one that was rescued from the "waterfall hikes." It was clear that this horse was in recovery because her other horses were so strong! The trail itself was so fun and absolutely gorgeous. I'm a beginner and so Nicole and her team made sure that I had a memorable but easy going ride. Thank you again for such an amazing time! And thank you for letting us borrow the hats, otherwise we definitely would have gotten sunburned!

This experience for our family was the highlight of our trip! Nicole and her team were truly amazing. They made us all feel comfortable from the second we arrived. We had 4 adults and 3 children with a few timid riders in the group and Nicole made sure we were all comfortable and paid extra close attention to the kids. There was a hiccup due to a large truck blocking the road and Nicole handled it like a pro. We will talk of this experience for years to come! Thank you Nicole and team for making this Chicago crew feel extra special!
