Description
Los Haitises is the national park at the back of the Bay of Samaná — a field of limestone hummocks rising straight out of the water, with mangrove channels running between them and caves at the waterline holding Taíno rock art. It is the most distinctive landscape on this coast and it can only be seen from a boat. Cayo Levantado is the island in the bay, and the beach there is the stop of the day: time to swim and to eat before the return. Between the two, most of the trip is spent on the water, which is where the park is actually seen from. Food and non-alcoholic drinks are included and a verified guide goes with the group. This is the trip that takes the largest numbers — for big groups the boats are run together with associated local operators, so a large party travels on the same day rather than being split across dates. Pickup from your accommodation is included.
