Description
A short walk through the hills behind El Limón, on a family finca where cacao, coffee and plantain still grow side by side the way they have for three generations. We start mid-afternoon, when the heat breaks and the light comes in sideways through the canopy.
Along the trail you'll see cacao pods on the tree, open one, and taste the fresh pulp before it ever becomes chocolate — most visitors are surprised it tastes like citrus, not cocoa. We roast and grind a small batch by hand at the house, and you drink it the way people here actually drink it, thick and unsweetened.
The walk ends at a set of natural river pools below the finca, cold and deep enough to swim, about twenty minutes upstream from the waterfall trail and almost always empty. Bring a towel.
Small groups only — one or two people per departure. The trail is uneven and has two short climbs, so closed shoes matter more than fitness.
